Evening all
Been missing in action since Friday, so just trying to have a wee catch up, hope all is well.
I was very naughty this weekend and went out on the town again
Had a few drinks in the house with a friend and then decided at 1:30 in the morning it would be a good idea to get a taxi into town and go
I was a dirty stop out again and didn't get in 'til after 4am and was back up at 8 for work, think I may still have been a little bit drunk  :rotfl:...those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.

You standing still or will you step into the great unknown,

Evening all. We have been down to Cheshire dogs home today and the amount of public there showing support was brilliant. We managed to speak to some members of staff there who I must say are doing a brilliant job with the dogs from Manchester. Can I just emphasise on the (manchester dogs) when the tragedy happened, Cheshire took on all the surviving dogs from Manchester even though they were full with dogs from their own local areas. This means that they have staff working in... days off to ensure everything is in place. Due to a high volume of donations being sent there, they have now had to outsource storage for the donations given. With packaging and everything else, thus has took its toll on their own rubbish facilities and are now struggling. I would like to ask if there are any local skip companies to Cheshire dogs home who could help with 2 skips. I myself will be calling se local skip companies if we are unable to aquire any to see what can be done. It would be great if this could be done. Also the have a barrier which has come down which I will add a photo of if anyone can assist locally to them. Another bit of good news is that we manage to see 4 surviving dogs from the fire one of which is to what the vets have said astonishing! Sandy, who is in the photo suffered severely from the fire and the will to live is outstanding! She still isn't 100% but hopefully she will get there. We have decides to have her as our little mascots for this page and will be adding another photo later as our profile picture. Many thanks to everyone keep up the good work and support. That can't have been easy, and the staff are doing a great job.
Now for the "Voice of Rationality", maybe:o:o:question::
One figure I saw though was that £1 million was raised in 24 hours by Just Giving. The fire left 150 dogs 'homeless', without the Manchester Dogs Home. By contrast, just £20,000 was raised by various Just Giving campaigns for victims of South Asia floods, which killed 500 people and left at least 2 million homeless. Not saying that the campaign for the dogs home was wrong or that the home should not be rebuilt, but merely that sometimes the collective contributions from the public clearly don't reflect the proportions that ought to be spent in different places (on any reasonable view). Here, the public, voting with their 'feet'/their actions, have led (on such a view) to a misallocation of resources. Now, would politics and the political system allocate resources any better? (Probably not:(.)
I'm not saying that people shouldn't help the Dogs Home but can I suggest:eek: that if people do they also make a donation of at least 5 times as much for the South Asia flood victims (even though on pure proportions it ought to be 50 times as much or that, considering dogs and people to be of equal 'worth', which clearly they are not - I'd argue humans were of greater worth - that 50 times ought to be multipled by a further 13,333 or more, to go from 150 to 2 million).
At least the Manchester dogs that survived were luckier than those in East Yorkshire that sadly all died:( today.
So do I her face looks traumatised though
Poor thing I want to give her a big hug and tell her she's safe now :A
:eek::rotfl:How do you manage to read dogs' faces?!? That dog just looks like a picture of a dog to me, I can see no expression of any kind in the dog's face and can't tell that the poor animal is traumatised:o.
Ideally, perhaps, perhaps not, there shouldn't be a need for dogs homes at all, as all human beings would take and care for animals properly and dogs homes would be rendered unnecessary. However, sadly, people don't and therefore there is a need for dogs homes, and they do an excellent job as much as they can in sometimes challenging circumstances.
Certainly, continue doing the best for the dogs home and I hope the skip companies will help out too.
Just - made me think when I saw those figures too.0
