I've just looked it up, Falkirk is about 40 mins on the train from Edinburgh - this is giving me ideas.
I was thinking about Edinburgh last week - plenty of meal offers but it was the activities that were holding me back from booking as we have done most if the tourist things
It might be even shorter than that mhoc, I think if you go from Edinburgh Haymarket to Falkirk High station it only takes 20/25 minutes and involves far fewer stops. From memory, all trains from Edinburgh to Glasgow and back again go through Falkirk High station and there are at least two trains every hour.

If you do go you should also go to see the Falkirk Wheel. It I an amazing contraption that moves canal boats to different water levels. Again, I've never been myself but my kids loved it this summer, definitely worth a visit..

No need to traipse all the way out to Haymarket, get the train from Edinburgh Waverley going to Glasgow Queen Street (NOT GLASGOW CENTRAL)

Good point Jock..:p I moved down south about 25 years ago and my memory is not so good these days, forgot that Waverley is the easiest, obvious station to go from.

Note to self.. Never, ever get your facts even slightly wrong when there is even the slightest possibility that aau1 might be lurking, waiting to pounce..:rotfl:

In my head I always quadruple every single clubcard point.

So do I. But it doesn't always work that way if you don't have an exact unit of £2.50 at the end of the CC period and if your next CC period you don't spend with them at all and end up with fewer than 150 points.

"30. Clubcard vouchers will be sent with a statement to members who have accumulated a combined total above the qualifying threshold by the end of each collection period. The current qualifying threshold is 150 points."
    http://www.tesco.com/clubcard/help/terms-and-conditions/#updated_vouchers

I managed to quintuple on a special offer (£2.00 to £10.00)x2 but the excess I had (£3.00) went towards a 'buy in full' promotion - it was on special reduction as well, but compared to the actual admission price I think that worked out at 3 and a half times rather than 4. Otherwise, I could have gone for 3x £2.00 to £10.00 but that would have left me with a useless 100 points that wouldn't give me anything at all in the next period - I don't shop with them at all so wouldn't be spending anything that could have got me the needed 50 points for a CC voucher (without spending far in excess of 50p on shopping). And then you can't quadruple £1.50 up, only £2.50.

    That's right.
And a wee go on the trams ! Takes you out to kripsy kreme area for £1.50 each ! Not much else out that way though.

Museum for Scotland is free. Quite a view from the top of it as well.

:) quite a view from JL too , you see all the way to Kirkcaldy. X
