Hi everyone, I’d really like your opinions on this please. OH has again accused me of being selfish. I know I can be sometimes because of my ASD but this time I really feel that he’s the selfish one. I want to go on a sightseeing holiday in Scotland. I enjoy visiting castles and historic buildings and I want to go to Stonehaven to visit Dunnottar Castle and 21 other heritage sites and museums in a 20 mile radius. OH isn’t interested in historic buildings and museums but he does visit them with me occasionally. However he said that spending a week doing this would not be a holiday for him and he’d be totally bored. It wouldn’t be worth just going for the day since it’s over 300 miles and the drive is over 5 hours! He won’t agree to me going alone either so that means I won’t ever get to visit these places unless I outlive him :( He says it will cost as much as a holiday abroad but we’ve been abroad 3 times and he just wants to sit by the pool all day then go for a sleep in the afternoon, which totally bores me  I really don’t think I’m the one being selfish here :(

OK , why not find some hot places abroad with some history eg Cyprus - very easy to fly to Larnaca - loads of historic churches, relics etc for you to visit but OH can just lie on a beach and bake.
Have a look at the tourist info website for Larnaca - I was doing some research last week and it looks really interesting.

I need to go donate, I've not done so for a couple of years :o

Laziness on my part I'm afraid. I used to go to the donor centre where I worked but since my job moved, I've not done it :o

Unfortunately, my Mum can't give blood either due to a transfusion she received about 20 years ago. The transfusion saved my Mum's life; this is what led me to donate when I was a teenager.

I've had a couple of years off from donating due to going abroad to Africa but I always try and fit it around my schedule.

Seeing blood being given 1st hand is also a kick up the backside.

    :D

I have wondered sometimes whether the blood I've prescribed to a patient is the same blood that I had donated. Chances are slim, but you never know...

We used to donate blood together OHs, myself and our 2 lads - sadly offspring flown the nest so there are just us 2 left.
I started at 17 because we got the afternoon off work :D apart from having babies and being anaemic once - that stopped me for 6 months
I was also rejected as a platelet donor - appRently young lads have better veins.
I am now on my 52nd donation :j
