I am Scottish by birth but in truth I am first a mother, a wife,a daughter, a niece , a friend.
Being Scottish influences none of them roles. I have friends of different nations and races and language. They are my friend because I like them. I don't see colour or creed or an accent.
I see the rest of UK as part of my country we are joined by land on the whole. Why on earth does it make sense to be arguing about seperation.
Big hugs and much love to you Izzey xxxxx
Izzey, how right you are. I think that is how we all see our friends, never colour, creed or language. I like them because of the person they are. It strikes me that 'other' people who aren't 'lucky' enough to have friends/acquantances of different 'cultures' loose out. People are liked because of 'who' they are not 'what' they are. If the Scottish decide to go solo, that will be their choice. Hopefully it won't break up any friendships on here.0 -

I have been to Glasgow twice in my life one for a cousins wedding when I was 7 or 8 I think might have been bit older. Gosh that's a bad sign I can't remember.
Second time was for work in my twenties, I had to try and train some Scots how to word process.0 -

I've only been to Scotland once (Glasgow) and that was work related

Savvybuyer wrote: »Exactly. I knew that already and wasn't seeking a direct answer. It should be the current Prime Minister of the UK defending why to maintain the current UK. It isn't, precisely because they know that that wouldn't get them the desired result. So they have chosen Gordon Brown. They didn't choose Alaister Darling, because he doesn't speak the right emotion/language either. I note the phrase "vested interest" again with interest.
At the end of the day, each side are after the 'desired result' and do and say what is required to try and get it. That's politics, whatever the situation is.
I actually think both sides are representing their respective objectives just as expected. Politics isn't a clean and fair game and it never will be.
I haven't lived in Scotland for a number of years now. When I did, this issue was always rumbling on in the background. Always in the media.....much of which undoubtedly never reached people south of the border, and since I can remember......with the same man as the driving force behind it. What we are all seeing now is just the tail end of a much longer story. Where you live, what you're experiences are and how long you've followed this will colour your view.
In my view, Mr Salmond and the very irritating Ms Sturgeon are a pair of glory hunters who have been chasing a personal dream for so long, it's not about the bigger picture for them anymore.
Just my opinion0
