sorry to my fellow Scottish on here but I just posted this on NIGEL FARAGE'S (ukip) fb page.

I predict a comfortable win for the no's...I think they are being intimidated by an agressive yes camp but will put their X in the right box when they get into the privacy of the polling booth..

I am of Scottish heritage too!:D

Rhosynbach, this is a tricky one. Ideally you want the RSPCA to come and document what has happened so action can be taken against the owner of the nets, however RSPCA response to wildlife calls can be VERY hit & miss. I have called them out for birds hung in fishing line, in great danger of drowning and was told someone will be out within 48 hours. The poor bird would have died by then as it was thrashing in & out of the water, so I waded into a frozen lake to save it.

If I was you I would call the RSPCA back again, stress that the birds are in distress and in danger of drowning, and ask if they can give you an estimated time they will arrive. As wild birds they will be exretemely stressed and be in danger of fatally injuring themselves as well as being very vulnerable to attack from dogs.

The RSPCA should give you a reference number that you can quote if you want to phone for an update. You can also ask the inspector on call to call you when he is on his way if you want to meet them to show then where the birds are.

If they can't give you an estimated time of arrival, if you feel confident enough then I would quickly take photos of the birds before cutting them free. Please take a box/ crate with you to put any injured birds in as they could have broken legs or wings by now. Also wear long sleeves and thick gloves as they will peck and struggle in fear.
I can understand you don't want your boys doing this if the owner is a thug. :(

If you let me know where you are based (PM if you prefer) I can see if there is an independent wildlife rescue charity near you. They are often better equipped for a fast call out than the RSPCA.

Good luck and grr at the numpty leaving nets like that. x

thanks so much for posting this was on old mobile by then so could not reply as it is really rubish, I phoned them back and they said someone will be here very soon, infact it only took them half an hour, as they were in a local village,
ds2 had already got a knives, crate , gloves and a blanket ready as to your advice but they were not needed:)
we showed them the net and they cut the birds out some were ok and released but 2 were took away. :( but should be ok..
they were not cormorants but Ynys bach Shags, from the next village , which are a group that nest a month before any other shags in the uk and have apeared on several wildlife programmes. ds2 was very unhappy as we go and watch them while nesting ,,
net still there, apparently they can not remove it as they are not sure if it is illegal they are taking further advice,,:mad: so the same thing may happen again:(

Its just getting awful. Scot turning on scot because fundamentaly under all the nationality it is people. And when folk don't get their own way they can get mad and spit the dummy.

I am Scottish by birth but in truth I am first a mother, a wife,a daughter, a niece , a friend.

Being Scottish influences none of them roles. I have friends of different nations and races and language. They are my friend because I like them. I don't see colour or creed or an accent.

I see the rest of UK as part of my country we are joined by land on the whole. Why on earth does it make sense to be arguing about seperation.

Big hugs and much love to you Izzey xxxxx

its only my feeling, since the oil, half of the Scottish want to go independent. but they were happy being part of the uk when the nation was doing ok out of the uk. I do know the majority of posters on here are not that inclined

Well your entitled to your opinion. Hopefully you will get your say in the referendum on Europe that's sure to follow

PS I wish we had never found oil, it took away my wonderful uncle Graham in an accident when I was little and I shudder at the sight of a rig :(

And it won't end at 7am on Friday when the result is announced. The whole process has been devisive and Salmond is nothing more than someone trying to be a Martyr, not for the Scots, but for himself. The politics of Divide and Rule.

Whatever the result, no matter how many families are torn apart by a single vote one thing for sure is that there will be a backlash further down the line and Scotland will suffer beacuse of it.
