Well I am very glad I seized the moment and booked our Travelodge midweeker in York in October - still some rooms left but some of the dates have gone up in price including one of ours.

Its still worth booking though if you are not chained to the school year or can get a few days away before half term.

I had a look at Edinburgh as well, more expensive than York. Still dithering, a bit stumped on trying to find non touristy things to do.

But I am even more happy that one of our fav resturants in York - La Vecchia Scuola - has come up on Groupon - valid until mid November :T
Just wish I had more in my paypal account - well I could pay for it with paypal but I hate my paypal going too low.
Anyway all meals now sorted out. Not sure what we are going to do with ourselves, might just go on the train to Harrogate or Knaresborough for a day out.

Its a neighbour who I don't even know the name of them. Folk passing will think its a relation of theirs especially if they didn't know Kath was ill. A few Kath's live in my neighbourhood ;)

Good point :( Hope they take it down soon, came in at the wrong end of this story, struggling to keep up with this thread at times :(

I am wildly excited about the new Rachels divine MOC - someone mentioned it last night and I found my email today
    - it has a long expiry date
    - its a pdf so you can print as many as you like
    - I checked sainsburys.com and yes both versions are £1 in Sainsburys so only 25p at the mo :T

Also useful if you are doing a brand match shop/trying to get to the total to use a conditional spend - don't think anyone else sells them yet.
Hopefully waitrose will get the offer next when it finishes in sainsburys.

This is also something that you might find in the reduced cabinet so its worth keeping a few coupons in your coupon wallet.

Shows how much I know didn't realise was a PDF does that mean mine and yours (I was one who mentioned it) will have same barcode?

    Good Morning Elite!

Could someone explain the advantage of V3 cards, I did search but could only find people complaints about charges and warning of scams.

My thoughts were that it could be...

    a) convenience of a visa card without wanting to mark credit record / or for those with poor credit.

    b) crazy scheme where you buy a V3 using something like a 1% cash-back card, transfer and pay off leaving 1% profit somehow avoiding fees, possibly with PayPal. :T

    c) you can buy them at a discount perhaps £25 card for £22.50 with APG :rotfl:

    d) quidco etc

    Thanks everyone.

    150 clubcard points for £50:cool:

rant time :eek::eek::eek: someone has 2 nets on our beach have been in touch with fishery department as in summer with children was worried about someone getting tangled, also a few birds got caught in it and died:( this morning ds2 has gone down and 5 cormorants and tangled in it, still alive, he phoned me to ask if he should cut them out, but I am concerned as the bloke is a bit of a thug also that will not prevent the problem so I called the rspca so hopefully they will get someone there , we will go back down in a bit, but if tide starts coming in we will cut them out so they dont drown :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Rhosynbach, this is a tricky one. Ideally you want the RSPCA to come and document what has happened so action can be taken against the owner of the nets, however RSPCA response to wildlife calls can be VERY hit & miss. I have called them out for birds hung in fishing line, in great danger of drowning and was told someone will be out within 48 hours. The poor bird would have died by then as it was thrashing in & out of the water, so I waded into a frozen lake to save it.

If I was you I would call the RSPCA back again, stress that the birds are in distress and in danger of drowning, and ask if they can give you an estimated time they will arrive. As wild birds they will be exretemely stressed and be in danger of fatally injuring themselves as well as being very vulnerable to attack from dogs.

The RSPCA should give you a reference number that you can quote if you want to phone for an update. You can also ask the inspector on call to call you when he is on his way if you want to meet them to show then where the birds are.

If they can't give you an estimated time of arrival, if you feel confident enough then I would quickly take photos of the birds before cutting them free. Please take a box/ crate with you to put any injured birds in as they could have broken legs or wings by now. Also wear long sleeves and thick gloves as they will peck and struggle in fear.
I can understand you don't want your boys doing this if the owner is a thug. :(

If you let me know where you are based (PM if you prefer) I can see if there is an independent wildlife rescue charity near you. They are often better equipped for a fast call out than the RSPCA.

Good luck and grr at the numpty leaving nets like that. x
