Morning everyone, never been around so early in a thread :j
A question for the Elite cooks pretty pretty please.
I am today going to attempt to make my own pasta bake from almost scratch.
I've got the LLoyd Grossman garlic tomato sauce for cashback plus pasta, fresh peppers etc.
I've got a chicken breast and a half out for cutting into cubes - do I need to just brown it all over before it goes in the dish?
What I want to do is brown the chicken, put it and the cubed veg into an oblong dish with sauce over the top - enough to coat everything but not make a gravy. And then just put it in the oven - no idea how long for?
The shop bought pasta bakes are very bulky - really enough for 3 so I want more of a reasonable size for 2 but with loads of flavour and interest.
Can I also snip some salami or chiritzo and add this as well?
OH has taken over the kitchen so I've lost confidence in my cooking abilities ...
Morning all, and thanks SD for the new thread!
Yes, brown the chicken cubes, then put it with the chopped veg and pasta into the dish and cover with sauce, then sprinkle with cheese if you feel so inclined
Then put it in the oven until the cheese is bubbling and golden brown, maybe 25-30 mins? It would depend on the size of it really. I would definitely add some spicy sausage for a bit of extra flavour, can't go wrong with that! Hope that helps0 -
Thanks SD:cool:
Ds1 starts big school today:eek: and now on my days off I have to drive him and his cousins to school:o I should of sent him to the rubbish school in town and not the good school out of town:o:rotfl:
We do what's best for them Nerfie
DS1 started at his new school this week and transport is costing us £100 per month just to get him there and back again.
I'd pay double that if it meant he doesn't have to go to the rubbish town schoolHistoric Debt August 2009 = £63,600 10th March 2017 = £0 100% paid all gone!
Mortgage started June 2015 = £170,000 January 2022 = £134,000
Saving for Xmas 2022= . . Amazon £55

We were lucky enough to have brilliant schools close by, if we hadn't then we would have done the same.
We do all we can for our kids because we love them, quite frankly the best is not good enough for mine
That said, my grandson is starting school very soon, and they have opted for a school I would not have sent my kids to, I just hope it has improved in that time, DS seemed to quite like it when he went to look around anywayWhat is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
