EDF - You've got to laugh!

My biggest complaint about EDF, and other companies, is not their service, but the switch to yearly bills (and by that I mean yearly communication). They went from quaterly request and reminders for meter readings to nearly no communication for the whole year. This can cause huge problems as it either allows confusingly large credits to run up (which may be required when winter hits) or a deficit on the account which can take customers by surprise at the end of the year. I was able to cope, but I can see some customers getting caught out badly by this.
When I was was with EDF I used to ring up and force a bill to be produced by giving a meter reading. I think you could do this online too.
To be honest, I think a lot of other companies have switched to the yearly bills, but as I have got into the habit of supplying a reading every month, I have not noticed it as much.
Thinking about it; it's not the yearly bill that bothers me, it is the communcation black out for the whole year, no reminders, nothing.0 -
@Cashstrapped -one of the reasons I switched to OVO from EDF, was that they ask for monthly meter readings and produce accurate monthly statements.
Also they pay a small amount of interest on credit balances,so I'm OK with running a credit balance going into the Winter period.
Whilst the EDF prices proved a really good deal from 2011 to 2014, their strange computer algorithms produced some startling bad predictions of usage and subsequent DD requirements:rotfl:0 -
