That 6.1% is pre-rate change? So isn't it like to be more than the other accounts you mention post-rate change?

It's precisely for this reason that Martin's now showing which accounts have amended their rates in his Top Accounts listing.

the 6.1 is indeed pre-rate change. But so is Icesave's 6.2. These are both current (today's) rates, I have money in both andhave just checked. Sainsburys is post rate change. ICICI has a good rate too, but I got fed up with their poor customer service.

Icesave's 6.2% AER is the post rate change (it was 5.95% before) and came into effect 13th July.

A&L Directsaver's 6.1% is still the rate before the rate change so I expect it should increase to 6.35% on 1st August if the current trend continues.

The best thing to do, should you want to be able to withdraw money is split your money up, like I have.

I have 5 figures also in A&L but 4 in ICICI which I can dip into should I so wish, but haven't as yet.

Do all my saving with ICICI, and then sometimes withdraw from there to put some more into A&L but leave a grand in ICICI always.

This I can withdraw whenever I want to, if I need to.

Don't see why people moan when they knew the conditions on sign up. If you put all your money in there and didnt think about it it's not A&L's fault.

They will also beat 99% of savings accounts at the start of the month too.
