Tips to get low valuation from estate agents.

Hi,

I am buying a property, via probate, we found the middle/clearance man when he was changing the locks of the property. He said he would sell it us. He said if we get 3 values from estate agents, he could sell it at that price. Any tips to get a low value from estate agents?

    Bribe them?

Estate agents always overvalue so you will end up overpaying. You could maybe ask for a realistic achievable price for a quick sale?

Explain you are trying to rip off the estate of the deceased stiff and have don't care about damaging stiff's family's interests and how could they arrange an artific.....

Stone me, whatever happen to decent British traditions of decency & fair-play???

Stiff would come back & haunt you, likely...

What would you feel if someone did that for the property of a late, much loved, relative???

Good point: If you get to an agent's sweet spot you might even get a discount!

What you should do is put your hand in your pocket and get a full buildings survey from a RICS surveyor.
You will need to get a survey done if you are getting a mortgage !
He/she will do a report on the property provided it is not a cheap Drive By Valuation
and can point out any major problems and also look at recent house sales of similar houses in the local area.
This is SOLD prices not what some Airhead from the Estate agents thinks it's worth.

You don't get a valuation with a building survey.
