No, as stated on their respective websites.

You need an originator to do it for you. Typically these are utility providers, credit cards, etc. However, there are some savings accounts that let you pull money in via DD.

    With Co-op, yes.
  • Thanks for all of the help and advice so far, it's all going reasonably well.

Following the suggestion, I have just gone to open a second TSB Classic Plus a/c, I tried on line, I've set up internet banking etc, no problem, but as soon as I click 'Open new current a/c' - I'm shown a message - 'We can't offer you a second c/a at this time'.

Should I be trying a different way, how have others opened the second one with TSB?

    Thanks again.

You must start the application when NOT logged on to the TSB website. Counter-intuitive, right? When you get part-way into the application you will be recognised and everything will fall into place.
Are you for real? - Glass Half Empty??

Make sure you're logged out of internet banking was the advice I was given on here. Opened a second Classic Plus no problem.

You're too quick for me Fruit and Nut!
  • Excellent. Thank you!
  • There we go, second Classic Plus a/c just opened, and it instantly shows on the original internet banking site too, only one sign in needed to view both accounts.

Now I just need some money to fund them!

Great stuff! :T I'm kinda the opposite, once I transfered what I had in my old RBS current and savings account, I'm sitting with both TSBs now maxed out. Still to decide my next move. I think it's going to be a current with First Direct (hopefully) purely to get the 6% regular saver.
  • Just received my £125 M&S gift card from M&S bank - thank you!

Just applied for Co-op current a/c as well. As soon as that is opened I shall be switching the M&S a/c into it...

Then, open Halifax c/a and switch Co-op a/c in.

Now, maybe a new suit for me, woohoo!
  • I'm beginning to wish I hadn't bothered with the £125 M&S gift card incentive, which I'm trying to switch a dormant Halifax account to (could no longer be bothered shifting money around to get the monthly fiver).

I thought it would be a nice little treat to get some M&S food goodies for Christmas, but at this rate, it's going to be next Christmas before I get my gift lol.

I've phoned up twice so far, had to put all my details into the phone and then give them again to the person on the other end, only to be told that the switching team is not available.

They're going to ring me back on FRIDAY to do it then.

I'm really not impressed with the service so far either, it isn't a patch on First Direct, there's no way I'm switching my real main account away from them.

I suppose it's my punishment for wanting to open the account for nothing other than the freebie!
