Whooping Cough Vaccine side effects

Hi all
Not after any medical advice was just curious as I've had the vaccine this morning. Got a sore arm as the nurse said I probably would but she said that's all I would really experience. Since then though I've started with a sore throat, tiredness etc so not sure if it's just coincidence and I've picked something up from my DS or if it is a side effect of the vaccine. Was just wondering if others who have had it experienced similar.
Thanks!

It most likely differs between people. I had a WC vaccine last week due to pregnancy and had zero effects. Not even a sore arm. I'm sure others may have experienced effects tho. I don't think nurses/doctors give a live vaccine however.0

Thanks View. Yes mine was for pregnancy too, got to flu jab to look forward to as well. I'm thinking I've maybe picked something up from DS as he's had a bit of a sniffle.0

I have had whooping cough, it is a horrid thing and you're ill for months. It has a nickname of the 100 day cough but that doesn't do it justice it is like you're choking. Any jab will be a lot less syptoms than the real thing belive me.[STRIKE]Original Mortgage 07/07 £160000 LTV 100% [/STRIKE]Remortgaged 10/13 £118000 LTV 84%

I wish I'd been given the opportunity to have the vaccination.
I got whooping cough last year and it is so frightening as it's not just a cough- it is an awful choking spasm that stops you breathing. And a year on I still feel like my lungs have not fully recovered. I can't shout without choking now.
Mine was misdiagnosed as bronchitis for weeks although I knew it was something else.
When I was pregnant a few years ago we were not given the vaccination but apparently it's on the rise and your childhood immunisation doesn't protect you as it only lasts 10 years.
I'm not into preaching to pregnant women but I would 100% take the opportunity to have the vaccination if I were pregnant today. It was awful for me as an adult but it's life threatening to a newborn.0 -

I didn't know that. Perhaps we should all get the WC vaccine re-done then, regardless of whether you're pregnant? It is a horrible illness. The report button is for abusive posts, not because you don't like someone, or their opinions0 -
Well whatever it was, side effect or just something DS picked up it's gone after a good night’s sleep. So good in fact that I missed the alarm this morning
Typical, the only morning DS isn't shouting me bang on when the alarm normally goes off.
Agreed, it's a horrible illness and anything that offers the baby some protection until it is old enough for the jab is good with me.
One thing the nurse did say to me when I had it is "You do understand this is to offer protection to the baby and not yourself" I would have thought that as it was going in my blood stream as well as the baby's then it would have protected us both. Guess I should have clarified that but was too busy trying to keep an eye on my 2 year old!0 -

Strange thing to say. It definitely protects you, and the immunity passes onto your baby so it is protected in the first few weeks before it has its jabs (as I'm sure you know) - perhaps what the nurse meant is that you were only given it because you are pregnant? How odd.0 -
Yeah I think you're right Sulphate, just badly worded by the nurse. I mean the flu jab is only administered in the same way and that is to protect yourself rather than the baby as far as I know.
Oh well either way it's done now so hopefully baby will be protected at least until they're old enough for their own jab.0
