If I decide to rent a place and I go through an estate agents, what information are they likely to want from me? Do most of them just do a credit check or do they usually want to see proof of employment etc?

You will have to ask the agent.
Here in Aberdeen they are likely to want to see your last three payslips and get a reference from your previous landlord and probably your employer. They also insist that your gross income is at least three times the rent. At least they are not allowed to charge the tenant any fees.0 -
It my memory serves me right, think they ask for some forms of ID and some personal details, then they did a credit check. After the credit check comes back ok, our agent asked for a reference from our previous landlord and the deposit.0
