in may this year I split up with my girlfriend, I own the house with her thay I lived in. After we split up I moved out during that time i lost my job. I have now moved back in with my parents. at the end of may I applied for jobseekers and to this day im still not getting any kind of benefits.
when I applied for jsa I was put forward for universal credit, i went for the interview at the job centre and was told that i wasn't entitled to universal credit because I owned a house. I was told to redo my application online. i was then awarded income based jsa and was not entitled to that either. I then went to citizens advice. they told me to ask the jobcentre for a jsa3 form. I fillrd that out snd was still not entitled to any benefit. I went back to citizens advice who rang the job centre to find out wats going on. they said to that I had to fill out another form to find out what money I recieve off my ex girldriend to do with the house. I dont recieve any money from my ex for the house.
I have still not heard anything from dwp and hav now not had any money since I lost my job. I am diabetic and have nerve problems in my legs, I have missed hospital appointments because I cant afford to get there.
can anyone help me please.

Do you have equity in the property you do not live in? If there is more than £16,000 you will not be entitled to income based JSA.
Were you in regular work over the past few years?
Why is your ex not paying you rent?0 -
Have found the Decision Makers Guide for capital disregards for UC.
It says:
Premises ceased to be occupied
H2114 Where a person has ceased to occupy premises as their home following
estrangement from their former partner, those premises can be disregarded from
the calculation of that person’s capital where
1. the person has ceased to occupy those premises within the past 6 months or
2. the person’s former partner is a lone parent and occupies the premises as
their home1
.
1 UC Regs, Sch 10, para 5
Rather a strange way of putting it but take it to mean that they give you 6 months when they will disregard the capital (or longer if deemed reasonable) in this situation.
Since the OP left in May then it seems as if he is still in the 6 month period and the capital should be disregarded.
After that then it would depend on whether there was any equity in the property.
Can't understand the bit about completing a form about income from girl friend. She is probably paying the mortgage. Perhaps she is renting a room out to someone or sharing with someone else who is paying rent?0 -

Presumably that means that if she were paying him rent, the amount of rent would be taken into account when calculating his benefit entitlement.0 -
i dont understand why they made the OP claim UC.
presumably he has been in regular employment to be able to ovtain a mortgage, so should be claiming conts based JSA which has no capital limits

My thoughts exactly re JSA (c)
Just a thought but did you supply all of the information you were asked for- ie return that form saying you are not paid any money for the house. Just seems strange0 -
Can you give us more info?
How much equity is in the house?
Does your ex live there because you have kids together?
Have you tried to make a claim for contribution based?0
