Beware when purchasing a New 12 month TV License!

Beware if you are applying for a new 12 month tv license as it will not be valid for 12 months unless you buy at the beginning of a month. Frustratingly I bought mine at the end of the month recently and it's only valid for 1 day and 11 months. It seems very unfair that no mention is made of this at the time of purchase. On complaining to TV Licensing they say they can't help and "licenses are issued in accordance with the Communications Act 2003" and "licenses are dated to expire 12 months from the first day of the month in which they are bought." If I had known this at the time I would have waited another day! Trading Standards referred me to Citizens Advice who referred me to Consumer Advice who say TV licensing isn't within their remit!

Same as VED (Car Tax).
