Northern Rock PPI - no paperwork

Hi all,
I have read a lot of the forums and advice pages but would welcome any further thoughts as to whether to continue to look into the case.
In 2002 My wife took out a car loan with Northern Rock. On the phone she was told she had to take out PPI or the loan would not be granted. She accepted. The term was for 3 years. She never claimed for the PPI policy and at the end of the loan, when it was fully paid off, she destroyed the documentation.
Therefore we have no account/agreement number but I contacted NRAM (from a link posted on this website) they told me to contact Cardiff Pinnacle (who according to NR would have been the PPI insurer in 2002) I duly did this today - they have no record of my wife's name or any policy.
Question is then....... Is it worth pursuing this further with say a SAR to Northern Rock direct?
Any advice welcome.

Because it was pre regulation there is not a lot you can do I am afraid, you have no recourse to go to FOS either, I don't think a Sar would get you anything after 12 years.0

It certainly is

Did NR give you any details on this account and could they find you?.0 -
No. They had no records. Outside of the 6 year period.
Onwards and upwards - if nothing else I am now a member of the MSE message boards and will hopefully benefit in other ways!
Best wishes0
