Windscreen crack on SIXT rental

Hi all,
Whilst in France I hired a vehicle from SIXT (merc B-Class).
Stone on the motorway flew up and hit the windscreen and crack it.
I declined all additional insurances. Now I have a €570 bill for it.
Am I over a barrel?
Any experience or advise welcomed.

Yes. If this happens again you would be advised to get the windscreen repaired yourself. Also, some CDW policies exclude certain types of damage (e.g. wheels) so always check.0
