Scottish Gas and Warrant of Entry
Options
Due to unemployment and lack of cash I was not able to pay gas/electricity for a year, thankfully I am on track and now working.
Scottish Gas had applied for a Warrant to enter my house, I have phoned them and set up a payment plan for the electricity, I owed them £720 so have set up to pay £95 each month.
For the Gas I owe £1400 and offered £150 a month to clear it but there systems wont allow this, instead they are going to send a engineer out who will replace my Gas meter with a pay as you go one and I have to pay £140 monthly instead.
This means I need to take a day off to get this sorted, is it worth while me challenging Scottish Gas and getting to keep the meter I had?
With me getting this new job I don't want to be taking time off just yet!
Thanks

Phone them up and ask them what they would require in order to keep the credit meter. It may well be they require the full amount.
You may have to bite the bullet and arrange for some time off work. If they find they can't enter the property, they can (and will) arrange for a locksmith to attend, with all the additional cost that incurs passed on to you.0 -
Do you mean that they have done so ? IE you've been notified of a court date, did / didn't attend, Judge granted it etc?
If so you can ask but they could enforce it if they have it / wish (providing they do so within its validity period - 28 days I think, off hand)
If however they've only told you thats what they intend(ed) to do then you could choose to stand your ground, go to Court explain to the Judge why they should not be given a warrant of entry (you're offering more than the 140 etc) & see what happens / whether they wish to pursue trying0 -
The maximum they can take back per week is £16 . Its going to cost approx £250 for locksmith and warrant plus the costs of the prepays so its in their interests not to go ahead and in your interests to keep the credit meters for a big difference in kwhr rates available to you0
