Old Wheels & Tyres

I have four old Peugeot wheels (steel) with tyres. I want to get rid - any ideas?

Put them on Gumtree or Freegle.

can you put them on e bay they wont make much money but you should get them moved on

they sell for about £5.00 to £10.00 collected depending on the state of the tyre

a good way to advertise them would be as a spare set of rims to fit winter tyres

this is a good time of year to shift wheel rims as many people are looking for wheels to run with winter tyres
  • force ten is spot on about the winter rims.

It's also worth finding out every car they fit and adding it to the listing, Pugs usually fit Citroens and possibly some Fords (check the offset first).

Ebay can be viable if you're lucky and find someone local. Just sold 4 steel wheels for Golf with tyres for £175 but they are more collectable.

Could be worth trying a forum for your car as well in case anyone after spares.

Getting rid of old wheels and tyres can be a nightmare. I tried local car recycling centres and the local council tip but none were interested. In the end I put them all in the boot of car I was scrapping and had them taken away for me.
  • Tyres - take them to a tyre place and have them strip them from the rims. They will probably charge for disposal. If you say you don't want a new tyre as you are going to get rid of the rim as well, they may offer to take it at no charge. My local independent place did when I lived in Portishead (since moved) - no idea what a chain would do.

If the tyre place won't take the rims, weigh them in for scrap.
