How long did it take you to reclaim?

Hi one and all,

just a quickie, how long did it take for you to claim back your charges? The reason i ask is that my DH is claiming his back and I've been doing all the hard work, letters, phone calls etc (his excuse is he works nights!). I remember we started the process on Mon 22nd January 2007 ( i remember the date as I gave birth to our second son on the wednesday before!), and only received the court date on 15th May. Our day in court is 6th Aug, so another couple of weeks yet. I was wondering if anyone else has had to wait this long?

:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

    I think it depends on the bank. I've just finished reclaiming from the BofS.

    I wrote to them first 3rd Jan, they responded duely on the specified 14th day to say they were 'considering my letter and would reply no later than a specific date 6-8 weeks later.

    About 4 days after this specific date I recieved a letter dated to the same specific date rejecting my claim.

    In this time they had added a further £28 charge retrospectively 2 months after the original charges. My claim was only for 80odd quid. I wrote them the second template letter informing them that I was now going to reclaim all of the charges including the new one plus interest or go to court in 14 days (£110). They responded by saying they'd consider it and reply in 6-8 weeks again. Suggesting the FOS.

    8 weeks later they offered me £44 - claiming the total was only £88 in writing. I just rang them up today. They didn't dispute that my claim was £108 pre interest, and offered me £81 on the spot.

    I took it because frankly, the extra £30 quid isn't worth it for a few months court proceedings.... but that means it took me from 3rd Jan to 18th July to reclaim £81... definitely worth it, and probably worth heading to court - because there's not really a chance you'll lose.... but i guess that could take even longer.
  • Natwest I'm afraid.

    My second son was 5 days old when we started claiming, he was 6 months yesterday and we've still got to wait until our court date of 6th Aug!:rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes:
