Guess I am just old fashioned. If I agree a deal with someone, I stick to it.0

HI There,
Its the trade not dealer. We are looking at cargaint super market. Our vehicle is Ford Focus titanium 5 dr auto . Was quoted yesterday £13499 for 61 plate with 8900 miles and after negotiation came down to £13199.
Cargaint for same make, less price and model quoted £11499. Car gaint is quoting £13999 for 2014 model. So paying same price for 3 year old doesnt make any sense. I know they are not local but we will buy a car that is still in warranty or perhaps go to some other car.
They havent got back to me yet. Are they delaying to come back purposefully. Since it is not even 24 hrs that we agreed the deal , do we have any advantage that they are trying to deny it by delaying it. Forgive my ignorance.
Thanks,
Vidhya

Have you actually seen the car in person at Car Giant?
My experience was that their cars might be cheap but were cheap for a reason - quality of preparation wasn't the same as a main dealer.
I think you'll be very lucky if you get any money back. The whole point of paying a deposit is to give some indication that you're proceeding with the deal so if you back out you lose it.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
Jim,
You are correct. We wont get our deposit back.

Have you compared finiance deals and the fact that CG will try and hard sell you GAP cover, painte work protection and worthless warranty?
What's the full package from the place that you have already committed £500 to?
You haven't actually seen the car at CG, it may have different spec and or paintwork damage as well."Dream World" by The B Sharps....describes a lot of the posts in the Loans and Mortgage sections !!!0 -
We havent compared finance deal as we can offered to buy all by cash. Finance option we took as we were given 0% interest. But we think that cost already factored in the sale price of the car. Package is all same for both agreed and advertised one. We havent seen car from CG but have word of mouth from websites. Even if we dont get it from CG we can try other dealers. We are not limiting to CG alone. In fact , trust ford dealer ship was offering the same price as the deposit paid one.
Its simply expensive for us if we think other offers available.

Can tell you now that add the cost of the CG warranty, their admin fee and valet will equal or just less than the Ford dealer. Add the lack of customer service and the added value of buying from the dealer and additional cost of travelling you will be better off with the 0% interest deal. Put the £13k in premium bonds or savings account and you will be winning.
Also, CG and other car supermarkets have a high turn around of cars so the cheap one you spotted won't be there when you go to buy it."Dream World" by The B Sharps....describes a lot of the posts in the Loans and Mortgage sections !!!0 -
Foxy-Stoat,
I know you there are not same model but I think if I get the new car thats just below the one we agreed , I dont mind buying it for the same amount I will pay for 3 year old.
Thanks,
