outstanding finance on hpi

Hubby went to look at a car last Thursday, everything was fine so he put a deposit down and to collect the car this saturday. However when he was at the garage last thursday I done a hpi and it said there was outstanding finance. The dealer said he had previously sent a check off to finance company but it was returned two days later, anyway he said he would get the car cleared of finance but whst I was wondering is how long before it shows up on the hpi checks as clear. I dont want to do another hpi and it still says finance on it and waste £10. When would be the best time to check. Of if I was told ring the number what was on the hpi check last thursday, would they till me if it is now clear or would they tell me I had to do another hpi?

Call the HPI company and see if you can get the contact details for the finance company in question, ring them and ask them what's happening and see if the dealer is being straight with you. In all honesty mind, the dealer sounds shifty! Best of luck

If you are buying from a bona fide car dealer the outstanding finance is their problem not yours.
