Credit check and employment?

Several years ago I slipped into bad debt and ended up having to arrange payments to independent collectors as opposed to the banks and credit cards.
I have been paying the debts, slowly, monthly since up until about 4 or 5 months ago when I hit a few issues. But I am back on it now and infact I managed to get a new credit card last month.
As I was able to get a credit card would this mean that my credit score is not as effected as I might have guessed. I would like to know as I am going for a job with Sky and an experian credit check is obligatory. I can't do the free trial check as I did so years ago.
And I would not know what they would be looking for either and so................
What do you guys think?

I don't believe defaults, arrears, payment history, etc would be divulged.0 -
Have you had to fill in any forms? make of this what you will

ooohh I've always wanted to know what happens if you have been a customer of said organisation? ah like does that hold any sway?!
Been though couple of employment checks and still honestly wouldn't like to say - what's acceptable to one organisation might not be to another in these checks? like you OP I thought credit might be a good sign in this sense now no idea  my last 'vetting' asked if anyone I knew how used a service (cringing at what my nearest and dearest might have got up to if you get me..or me in a previous life unknowing lol!)
Definitely one interesting subject, sure never fails to baffle
I've only come across building societys types bothered with defaults, if it helps0 -

Many employers will do a credit check. Don't worry unduly about it. What they're looking for is serious stuff like CCJ's, bankruptcy ( or evidence of impending bankruptcy ), criminal records like fraud or money laundering. If you're basically financially stable, you'll have nothing to worry about.0 -
Sky would not be getting a full credit check on you- everytime someone searches your file for actual credit or equivalent they must state why, if they say for credit then they will state this and you will see it on your file within 24 hours. More likely they will carry out a basic search and it will be an identity search which is just your name and address, Dont worry and go for it good luck0

Hi, I had a pre-employment credit check done on me a few years ago when applying for a (non-advisory) job at a financial services firm. At the time there would have been about 4 defaults showing as 4 years old on my credit file, though no CCJs or bankruptcy.
Their checks must have been returned OK as I got the job0
