Littlewoods

Hello!
My first post!! My name is Azalea and I am glad to be here :0)
I would like some advice please..
I am currently with littlewoods catologue and last week I ordered 2 items.
The delivery men left them downstairs, may I add they weighed each 15kg!! What if I was an old person/ pregnant/ or with serious heatlh issues that enabled me from carrying such a weight.
So I had to drag these very heavy items up 4 flights of stairs.
Of course I was very upset and called the littlewoods call centre to complain. I spoke to a call centre manager who said that he would call the depot and they will get back to me in regards to my complaint...it has been 3 days (not including the weekend) and I have heard nothing!!. AND I found out that there were actually 2 delivery men that day!!.
Any advice please? What is the legal body to get in contact with to make an offical complaint, is it trading standards?
Has anyone else had trouble with this catologue company?
Cheers!

I don't think there are any legal routes open to you here. The delivery men involved may have been under instructions, due to Health and Safety regulations, not to carry heavy items up stairs."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Pip pip and welcome to the MS forum.
To be honest I don't think there is an any legal path for you. I don't think you will be able to get much more than an apology. Just take it on the chin and bear in mind that you live up 4 flights of stairs. Try and turn it into a positive and see it as a little bit of exercise.
With this being a money saving forum, I am sure people would be worried about you buying from a catalogue, and would hope that you payed for the items outright and not on their expensive repayments.
Who was the delivery company? Was it Littlewoods own or was it a courier such as Citylink or UPS? If it was a courier then your grievance is with them really, and you may consider not buying from companies that will be using that courier.
If it was me (as a delivery guy, I'm not a delivery guy btw) I would have carried it up there, because I have that male pride, lol!.....0 -
Legally there is nothing you can do, You can complain direct to the carriers but youll get nothing.
Littlewoods are part of a massive company and you wont get anything from them either. If you wanted to you could pay off your account and go somewhere else but the majority of the catalogue companies are under the same umbrella.
Its just a case of bad customer service and your not going to get anywhere so i wouldnt bother wasting your time to be honnest with you. No one will give you any compensation for what has happened0 -
Thanks for your replies. Lots of valid points.
It just got to me the lack of consideration.
Well what I may do is pay off the littlewoods account and pay for things out right.
To be honest I am fed up with them and the quality of the goods are questioning.
I have logged a complaint with trading standards anyway, it makes me feel better even if it does not go far!!

Did you ask then to take them upstairs ?
Littlewoods use HDL the same as Tesco, i ordered a wardrobe (flatpacked) from Tesco and when HDL came they asked which room i wanted it in
