4 months and still waiting...

I originally claimed for my bank charges of £401 from HSBC on March 3rd. I received a reply on March 19th stating the matter was being looked into and I would be contacted with a full response once they had completed their investigations.

I sent the 2nd stage letter on April 18th (threat of legal action), but I then had my exams and the matter got put aside. I then received a letter dated June 6th from HSBC saying 'Further to our letter dated May 9th we have still not received a response a reply from you...if you don't respond in 7 days we will consider the matter closed'.
I didn't receive a letter dated May 9th, and anyway...surely it is up to me to decide when the matter is closed, as I raised it in the first place??!!!

I sent a reply stating that it was impossible for me to reply to a letter I had never received, and that my charges had now risen to £506, which I was reclaiming.

Then...a letter dated 13th July, stating exactly the same as the previous letter...'you haven't replied to our letter dated 6th June...7 days to respond etc.....'

Surely if they thought I hadn't replied to the letter on 6th june then by their own words they would have alreayd considered the matter closed???

All my letters have been sent by recorded delivery, so they must be lying surely.

What now...I've tried phoning but get put on hold for ages.....any suggestions??
