How to buy Thrifty cars

A friend has recently taken receipt of a Thrifty car as part of a fleet rental, and loves his car to the extent that he would like to buy it outright. We had the conversation this afternoon and were googling the site without success, and eventually the car reg number but there seems to be no straightforward way of tracing how to buy this car. Any ideas? There doesn't seem to be a direct sales outlet so I'm assuming the cars go back to a dealership to maintain the supply chain?
He'll call Thrifty during office hours now, but it would be helpful to know in advance as a) it's intriguing me that in this day and age the information isn't easily available on the internet and b) it might at least save him a phonecall. He doesn't want the same model and colour, he wants this precise car as he "likes the feel" of it.

Only way to find out is to ring them. We can't tell you how they operate internally and what their company procedures are!
There is no requirement for them to publish their vehicle disposal policies etc. The only real requirements on any company are to report their profits / losses not their entire operating policy.
Oh and a piece of string is 42cm long*

The majority, if not all, of these vehicles will be disposed of at via Auction. You'd need to find out who deals with this. Why not contact their head offices.0

Id be surprised if 1. The car is for sale and 2. It will be sold individually.0

Apparently what happens in the company is that cars are recalled and replaced on a regular basis as and when they are sold. The only odd thing I find about the suggestion of auction is that it would be blind, which made us think it was via a dealership according to demand from individual private buyers.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

They will either go to an auction, possibly a closed auction.
Or they have negotiated a deal with a large dealership or car supermarket to take most if not all of them.
Would they be interested in selling one to a private buyer that may have an issue and come back with complaints?
Probably not to be honest.0
