Difficulty in engaging gear - cause?

What a pity to abuse such a good motor by not giving it some periodic servicing.

Did you even bother to read any more than the first post? The issue was resolved as of post #7 ... and it WASN'T anything like what your post alludes.

I've told her several times to get it serviced. In fairness, we were against the clock as the car had to be ready for a long trip yesterday morning.

I will direct her to this thread when she comes back and strongly suggest she has it serviced.

Surely even more reason to make sure the car is in good condition? Let's hope it actually manages to complete the journey without further incident.
