I use waterproof mascara and eyeliner and it just doesn't budge with normally cleanser or wipes etc. I recently subscribed to a makeup artist from Ireland on youtube and she said her holy grail eye makeup remover is the Garnier Simply Essentials 2 in 1 Makeup Remover.

Do you mind if I ask the name of the person you've subscribed to on YouTube? I'd like to have a look at her videos. TIA.

Also, is this the Garnier one...http://www.amazon.co.uk/Garnier-Naturals-Essentials-Soothing-Remover/dp/B004LRT3KG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=undefined&sr=8-1&keywords=garnier+essentials+2+in+1+remover ?
  • Becca mascara does what you want to achieve. It give you nice lashes, stays on without flaking/smulging for hours, but all you need to remove it is to wash your eyes with water or basic cleansing milk - it sort of pulls off each lash...

For the cleanser, organic coconut oil is my absolute favourite (I buy Biona one) - you will need a tiniest amount to remove the mascara. Also try Bioderma, it's the make-up artists favourite.

Yeah that's the garnier one and its Sharon Farrell, brilliant Makeup Artist and a lovely person. Comes across genuine and funny. I don't really like the heavy makeup that's in fashion now, yanno the kim k contour and highlight style. Find Sharon does more natural or easier to wear makeup.
  • I can heartily recommend this one:

I use it mainly as an eye make-up remover. It removes waterproof mascara and doesn't sting. It's inexpensive too!

Thanks Rach, I've subscribed to her channel. I don't like the really heavy make up looks either.
  • I find the best mascara remover is Lancome's Effacil pricy but does the job, second best is Gatineau Floracil which works out cheaper -i buy it form qvc when on offer, Good tip for removing eye make up is use cotton pad put your remover on, split the pad into two then rest on the eyes for few seconds before wiping off - gives the remover a chance to soak.

Thanks, the issue isn't so much the make-up remover- I'm happy with my make up remover having been through many different types.

The problem is the mascara, some are easier to remove than others and I am trying to find a mascara that isn't so difficult to remove, the main problem I find is that once I think I've removed everything at night, the next morning I *still* get panda eyes! I end up having to remove my make-up twice which is not only a waste of time and make-up remover and cotton wool, but is also really annoying.

Hence looking for a mascara which doesn't cause me as much bother rather than a make up remover :)
  • I recommend Loreal Telescopic for length, doesn't move, flake or melt but is not water proof, comes off easily with remover. For volume I recommend Loreal Miss Manga, again doesn't move, flake or melt but is not waterproof but lasts much better if you cry etc then the telescopic. I use both of these products together when I wear make up for a dramatic look that lasts all day and most of the night if I need it too. I have only scanned this thread but the No 1 remover for any mascara that I have tried (lots!) is Boots Essentials eye make up remover pads, they are oil based remove everything with one application do not dry the skin or irritate the eyes and are super cheap :) Let the pad sit on your eyes for about 20/30 seconds and then wipe everything away.

Thanks- wish I'd had the same results with the L'Oreal, it flaked on me, added to the black mush caught in the rim of my then rimless glasses- didn't look so rimless after than :( But I've not tried the Miss Manga, -are either easy to remove (ie you remove at night and don't wake up the next morning with an added ring around your eyes?!)

I've tried the Boots make up remover- I find it as good as the Garnier but the Garnier is cheaper, (around £3?) though if money was no object I'd use Lancôme, Clinique or wash with Shu Uemura's facial oil beforehand (all out of my range unless I'm paying with Boots points ;))

Thanks for the mascaras to try though

No ring around the eyes in the morning for me, these are the boots pads I use http://www.boots.com/en/Boots-Essentials-Fragrance-Free-Eye-Make-up-Remover-Pads-40_869554/ which are nearly always on 3 for 2 offer. The Miss Manga is an acquired taste, I love it but it is an obvious clumping mascara :)
