How do i get to Calais in France for £1????

I got my first ever passport and i want to travel, i am starting with our neighbour France and i hear they have deals on the ferries where i could get there for £1 - but online i see no bookings available for £1 at all :(

So then, exactly how do i go about getting this journey for £1??? And when i go to the ferry port, do i simply hand my passport to the ticket booth (I presume there is one there) and that is all i do?? Then board the ferry and off we go? Or what????

This will be my first ever trip abroad, if anyone has been to France or Calais in particular please give me some tips, i will need as many as i can get.

There will be just me, My friends are not adventurous and would rather stay at home bored, and i do not have a car so i am a foot passenger.
Owed out = lots.

  • If you walk up to the ferry it'll be very expensive. Just book the best price you can find online. £1 fares are incredibly rare, much like Ryanair's free seats used to be.

Take a look at https://www.directferries.co.uk , they compare all the major ferry companies.

    DFDS are usually cheapest.
I'd keep an eye on the prices on hukd , there may be a newspaper offer.

The market for cross-channel transport is very competitive for cars and much less so for foot passengers.

If you are feeling adventurous, there is a £19 one-way coach fare from London-Paris with Eurolines, obviously depending on where you are travelling from, and how you were planning to get to Dover.

Calais is a fairly average market town with extra bars and restaurants catering for British visitors. The Pas-de-Calais region is somewhat depressed economically, but there is still a good range of shops both in Calais and surrounding towns and retail parks.

edit: Found this on a "let me Google that for you" basis:

In future you need to google ferry £1 calais P&o
As it's a special sun ( or Mail etc) code so you'll need the newspaper link to get the code. It won't be on the p & 0 site.
After the summer holidays end and before the pre Christmas shopping period ie now is a likely time you'll get these offers
