Thanks for the explanation masonic and xylophone. Much clearer on unit trusts vs investment trusts now.
I guess talexuser's advice for investment trusts in parent's ISA would equally apply to OEICs too? Of course there are differences in the two but no general reason to use an IT in this "investing for a child" scenario.0 -
It depends. With an IT, if you can invest directly with the company within an ISA wrapper, that can be significantly cheaper than doing it through a platform. However, opting to invest through a platform gives a lot more investment choice and regular saving into OEICs may be more cost-effective.0 -
