12 months guarantee on appliance

If I purchased an appliance but had to wait for it to be delivered, does the 12 months guarantee run from the date of purchase or the date of delivery?, if it is the date of purchase then I have, in effect, lost 4 days of the guarantee :(.

My Dishwasher has developed a fault today  and guess what? on the guarantee the 12 months run from today, the day I purchased it last year and not the day it was delivered, the 3rd September :(
It did not develop the fault till 4 this afternoon, by the time we did all the "trouble shooting" before phoning for a repair, they were closed. They are open tomorrow but I don't fancy my chances of a repair under the guarantee.
It can only happen to me :D

Manufacturer guarantees generally run from the date of purchase, not delivery. However you do have consumer rights with the retailer. Can I suggest you read the consumer rights sticky at the top of the forum page.

May also be worth contacting the manufacturer anyway if the retailer requires an independent report as some manufacturers will make exceptions for goods failing days after the guarantee expires.

Check out the T&C's of the company you bought it from, some start the guarantee from the delivery date.

Did you order online, and if so who from?

Most online retailers claim that the contract is formed on the date of dispatch. In this case, your manufacturers warranty should also start from that date.
