Next purchase & credit agreement? But NEVER purchased anything

I received a letter from Next about an online purchase i had supposedly made online on the 27th August along with a credit application for a Next credit card for me to sign!!.. as i had not placed any orders with them I rang them immediately and All the details they had on file matched my details ( name address date of birth)
I am now worrying as someone appears to have my information and is applying for credit in my name and at my address . Any advice as to what to do? Panicking now :-(
Thank you

why would they order to your address....
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

That's what I would like to know? She asked me if there was anyone else at my address who could have placed the order. And there's not. Maybe I should call them back and ask if the person who ordered had tried to get the order delivered to another address? Also surely they should have an email address of the orderer, if this order had been placed online?

I would register with cifas, I had this with a different catalogue company , they became suspicious when after registering they changed the address to a london address.

    It's a fairly common trick.

The fraudsters hovers outside the deliver address and claims the parcel is for them when it arrives.

Some catalogue companies will also deliver to corner shops now, making this trick even easier to pull off.

It's a risky thing to do.
