Switching question re RBS

my son has a dormant royal bank of scotland account he no longer uses and was going to close, i have advised him to switch to halifax and gain £100 out of them.
i read on the halifax site this:-
Customers switching a Bank of Scotland bank account to Halifax are not eligible for the offer
Is he able to switch and get the incentive bonus or not, i again have told him he can as Bos and Rbs are different banks.
am i correct or not

You are correct, RBS and BoS are two completely different companies. Try wikipedia.org for details.
No reason for not switching an RBS current account to Halifax.0
