Barclays PPI

Hello
I'm new to the forum and wondered if anyone has experience of my situation.
I have made a ppi claim against Barclays who have written to request further documents to evidence the ppi. They will not acknowledge that it had ppi on the loans which date back to 1997. I know I had ppi but have no paperwork to prove it. I also had my current account with them at the time. They told me that they do not keep ppi records back to that date but that they can confirm my personal loan account numbers.
Is it worth me requesting SAR from them or is it the end of the road without any documents?
I have read about someone else who wrote a letter notifying of court action but don't know the outcome ?
Just need Please any advice rather than wasting my time.
Thanks

If neither you nor the Bank have any documentary evidence then it's the end of the line for any complaint.Molly171717 wrote: »I know I had ppi but have no paperwork to prove it.
Only if you are prepared to gamble £10 on what is very likely a futile quest.Molly171717 wrote: »Is it worth me requesting SAR from them
On what basis could you even threaten court action? Even if you did have PPI seventeen years ago, you have yet to make any complaint about it. The court would require thorough proof of any accusation of wrong-doing you might make and it's clear you don't have this.Molly171717 wrote: »I have read about someone else who wrote a letter notifying of court action but don't know the outcome ?

I was in the same boat , 2 Barclay loans from 1997 one rolled over to the other defo had ppi on both/ started claim in 2011 ended up @ the F.O.S had sar from Barclays had both account numbers for loans and start / end dates ,had claimed on loan insurance f.o.s was closing the case in Barclays favour because there was no insurance policy number , managed to find a old claim form all filled in from 1998 which they had sent back to me for some reason, sent it of to F.O.S and the decision was reversed but they would only pay-out for first loan they paid me £3154.00 I continued to write letters for the second loan but was unsuccessful, during the F.O.S investigation they also found ppi on a Barclaycard from 1996 which I knew nothing about , and they paid out on that as well £1453.00. so my advice is don't give up and defo pay for the S.A.R IT MIGHT TURN -UP SOMETHING ELSE. DONT LET EM GRIND YA DOWN .. GOOD LUCK. Laddie0070

Ring Barclays ppi on 0500500700. They will do a search on your name, dob but most importantly previous addresses. Make sure you give them every address you have lived at whilst dealing with Barclays. They'll be able to confirm start and end dates of ppi, account numbers and amounts of ppi you paid0

Barclays are disputing that there was any PPI on the loans the customer is complaining about. It's hardly likely that they'd have written to the OP requesting documentation confirming PPI if it was a simple matter of ringing their own PPI Helpline? They'll be able to confirm start and end dates of ppi, account numbers and amounts of ppi you paid0 -

The banks do make mistakes. I had ppi on 2 loans with Barclays in the last 15 years. I made a complaint due to being self employed and they wrote back saying there was no ppi. I remembered paying it but Barclays were adament I'd not. My friend gave me the Dublin ppi line number and they did a search on my details. surprise surprise they located 2 loans, 3 cards and an overdraft all with ppi. I presented my account numbers etc and got a full refund! 😊0 -
