Where can I find private second hand cars
I have been searching for a low miles Ford S-Max but cant seem to find a site that searches for private buyers
Every site I have found just shows the cars available from dealers
Anyone any ideas or suggestions?

You can select either private or trade adverts on Autotrader.0

Getting 29 nationally, are you putting other restrictions on it?
Scratch that, that was c-max. 55 for s-max.
What mileage are you after?0 -
Still unsure why people want to buy low mileage cars over all else.
Especially as cars age.
Due to the fact many low mileage 7seaters are used by families who tend to run them on skinflint maintenance if they are the 2nd or 3rd owner and also tend to sell them when a largs bill is looming.
I would suggest that if you are unable to find privately listed vehicles then perhaps buying from a decent dealer may be sensible.
As many dodgy dealers list cars as private sales.
Though many dodgy dealers have now migrated over Gumtree and eBay.0 -
Buying privately doesn't gain you much. People quite often are less keen to barter than a dealer, you have far fewer legal rights buying privately and you probably won't get a trade in deal.
I personally take my chances at car auctions before buying privately. You have equally no real protection but are able to buy for a lot less. You will also be covered against buying a car that was stolen or on finance as the auction house will be responsible for that. I have bought my last 2 cars from auctions, and have found that the huge savings made there out weigh any problems as I can use the savings to bring the car up to scratch and still save. Bought a Jaguar X-Type sovereign for less than £2500 last time, cost me £1400 to have fly-wheel/clutch replaced professionally (i could hear it had problems at the auction) and also have a major service and every small problem fixed. Car was worth over £7000 privately but because it sounded awful at the auction room, I got it for peanuts. I ended up with a car in tip top condition for just over half it's value.
Now you could say I got lucky or was mad to take the chance, or just hate my choice of car, but buying privately is in my opinion more of a gamble and has just as much chance to be a dead horse (after all most people sell when the car needs stuff doing soon)Freebies you don't really need can be given to your local Hospice Charity shop so they can raise funds they desperately need.
