Am I entitled to housing benefit

Ok to cut a long story short I'm 28, currently living with my parents and up until recently I was on long term incapacity benefit....I also have just under 6 grand in savings if that makes a difference?
So am I entitled to housing benefit?
Would this be at the shared accommodation rate? if so how much money are we talking about? I've tried using the online calculator but I'm a little confused to say the least.
Also do I need to claim jobseekers to be eligible?
Tia folks

You won't be entitled whilst living with your parents but If securing your own tenancy elsewhere you will be entitled to Housing Benefit, there is no need to claim JSA.
If renting privately it will be based on LHA rates from your local authority, check your Council website for rates.
There may be a reduction in what you receive depending on your current rate of IB.
If you don't need an overnight carer to stay frequently you will receive the shared accomodation rate due to being under 35 although there are other options if in receipt of DLA middle rate care or PIP.Forums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.0 -
Wouldn't get anything as living with parents. These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.0

Cheers for the replies folks. Just to clarify I am looking for a place so I won't be living with my parents when I claim. Also my incapacity benefit stopped in january so I am no longer recieving any benefits....

Were you not transferred to ESA?
Technically yes but I was placed in the work related activity group so my entitlement only lasted a year before I was supposed to reapply. I can't face having to go through all that again though so I'm just trying to focus on getting myself sorted and I figured getting my own place might be a step in the right direction....0 -
You should have been transferred from contribution based ESA to income based ESA. When did your CESA run out?0

What would you live on? You'd need some form of income.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

You can't face the hassle of claiming whilst living with your parents but think it will be better to go through it when living on you own and having to support yourself??0

My payments stopped in january so I contacted them to find out why and I was told contribution based ESA only lasts for a year and that I would need to reapply if I wanted to continue to recieve benefits....0 -
