Accessing my credit file?

Hey all,
Just a quick question, decided to sign onto Experian to look at my file and see the skinny, but to surprise it stated:
"We need to conduct further checks to confirm your identity as we cannot locate you, please wait two working days and we will contact you by email or post as soon as possible. Thank you"
Same sort of thing from Equifax, Does this mean I've totally dropped out of existence with them and what will happen next? Guess this means my credit history is a total clean slate with them?
Least my noddle account knows I exist

Hi Alextexmex,
When you sign up to CreditExpert there are a number of security checks that we carry out to ensure that only a genuine applicant can access their report.
If there is little information at your address in your name then we may need further details from you, and possibly documents to confirm your ID and address.
Once we have completed our checks we will contact you to let you know if we will need further details.
I'm sorry for any delays in getting you access to your report, but i'm sure that you understand that the security of your information is very important to us.
Kind Regards
Neil“Official Company Representative
I am an official company representative of Experian. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"

Thank you for your message, unfortunately there's little information about me anywhere, I have never really desired to hold credit products and used a credit union for most of my adult life.
I am starting attempting to build my credit history from scratch, and considering I was turned down for a account based on "experians negative data held in my name" I want to know what this is all about.
How long until I will find out what's needed, Id verefication etc?0 -
Hi Alextexmex,
It should only take a couple of working days for us to contact you. If you still haven't heard anything by Tuesday give us a call on 0344 481 0800 and we can get it checked for you.
Our lines are open Monday-Friday 8am until 7pm and Saturday 8am until 4pm
If you are starting out on building up a credit history our Ask James page provides some good tips on where to begin.
