I would like buy some shoes from the Reebok UK site but when I go to checkout (as guest) it asks for my date of birth! I looked at their terms and found this
"Reebok conducts an individual credit check for each purchase in conformity with the Reebok Privacy Policy"
What is that all about? won't that destroy your credit rating after a few shopping trips to reebok.co.uk ? why would they be doing a credit check if you pay with a credit card? is this legal?

Looks like eBuyer does the same thing, requesting your date of birth.
"By accepting these Terms and Conditions you consent to such checks being made. In performing these checks personal information provided by you may be disclosed to a registered Credit Reference Agency"
Why does 99% of online trading take place successfully without any other retailer ever requesting your date of birth or running a credit check, yet these companies seem to be unable to function without it ?0 -
If you read the info when hovering over the question mark...
"Reebok requires a minimum age confirmation in accordance with the Terms and Conditions."
So just an identity check. Probably the same check the insurance companies do to see if your a real person.
