Best type of driveway - for look and cost

We have a driveway that is wide enough for 2 cars at the immediate front and then tapers for a single car to park - length about 20 yards with grass or flower beds each side. Currently the asphalt is wearing through to older asphalt in a number of spots. I have tried several companies for quotes and advice and so far no-one has turned up as promised.
My choices are presumably brick weave, resin-bonded small stones and patterned concrete 9not sure about this).
Any advice about long-term appearance, weeds, ants (they come up through asphalt!), and of course cost would be appreciated.
