Wear and tear on long term renting

When we rented it was in the tenancy agreement that the carpets would be cleaned prior to handover back to the landlord. I guess it depends on your particular landlord and what they view as wear and tear (my in-laws rent a house out on 2 or more years lease and they just repaint between tenants)
Now "Newly Married" & extra happy!

Are you moving out or staying?
If it was your own home would you repaint every 5 years or so?
How much does a couple of cans of paint cost and your own time!0 -
Hello All,
We are renting our property through a housing association for last 4 years.
During the time we have noticed usual wear and tear e.g. Carpet is not as clean (was a brand new when we moved in) and beige paint on the walls is looking a very slightly dirty. In our opinion we expect to have dust and marks while you are in a property for number of years.
My question is what how should we handle the situation when moving out; since the inventory of the flat mention condition of the walls and carpet at the time we moved in.
Thanks
Get the HA to inspect the property say three or four weeks before moving out and they will tell you if you need to do anything. If the carpet is just dirty but not worn then get it cleaned, as for the walls, after four years I'd expect the HA to redecorate. It's someone else's fault.0 -
