Chest freezer seal problems

Not sure if it was because I bought it second hand and first thing I did was remove seal as it was dirty and wipe all the frame of the freezer.
I did notice it get frosted up around the edges a lot since I got it and every so often just broke off the ice with force, it wasnt until a friend noticed there was a space between seal and the frame.
So I took seal off and just used fingers to stretch the seal, I did this last night but still the bottom left corner of the door doesnt shut 100% theres a tiny gap of about a millimeter or two but rest is fine.
Checked it today and not a single bit of ice has occured on the seal area or under the lid as before.
Just wondering about getting the door down completly and if it was a common thing and either way would that gap mean my food will go off quicker and the freezer use more electric?

Take the seal off and boil it it a stew pot/cauldron.
Softens it all up and reseats itselfI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
Thanks, I thought I would update since after a day the seal I stretched with my fingers went back to that solid shape so I go frost again, I did have a thought to boiling it myself but how would I go about that since the seal is far too big to boil in a pot, its as wide as my sink worktop if not bigger(must be about 6 feet maybe more) unless I can boil it in sections0

Put it in bath with hot water but i think it will just shrink back again.
Have you looked online to see how much a new seal costs?0 -
I put it in bath for a few hours of hot water and after I lifted it out about 10 little holes of water came off(as well as a huge amount of dirt1)
Seems to fit perfect not but will give it a few days to see if it messes up again.0
