Get your friend to buy some worktop and legs like thesehttp://search.diy.com/search#w=worktop legs&asug=

Making sure the height of the legs can take things like washing machine and small fridge under the counter.

Plus buying a couple of these http://www.argos.co.uk/m/static/Product/partNumber/8753373/searchTerm/drawers.htm for cooking utensils, rolls of foil etc
And one of thesehttp://www.argos.co.uk/m/static/Product/partNumber/8422013/searchTerm/vegetable+stand.htm for putting tins, packets and jars in them.

Once the kitchen is done, they can use these in the garage, shed etc. My parents use a veg rack in their garage for tins.

  • She's sorted a makeshift kitchen with the help of some paste tables, the kitchen was going to replaced but like you say it wasn't to be first job now forced into postion where this is where the money will have to first go into .. He also ripped cooker from wall ( electric) so leaving bare wire half way up wall hanging off to say they are livid at the situation would be an understatement and can't say I blame them

On that basis Sarah with the exposed wiring - even without the kitchen situation, the vendor has not left the house in the condition agreed. If they'd ripped out the washing machine and left the water flow pipe open, flooding the house, the new owner would be pursuing them for liability - so there's no difference here.

There's a load of cost that could be incurred by the vendors actions so I'd be pursuing them.
  • The thing is . . .

You pick up the keys, let yourself in carrying a bag with a kettle, tea, coffee, sugar, milk and a couple of cups.

Put them on the worktop - Oh, they fall on the floor because some !!! has taken the worktop away.

So you put them in a wall cupboard - they fall on the floor 'cos there isn't a wall cupboard any more.

I've never bought a house and expected everything to ok, but ripping the kitchen out

. . and leaving a yard full of furniture! It's not his yard any more, to leave anything in (unless by prior agreement)

I'd be fuming  and I'd definitely go after the vendor.
