    Its interesting that all the forums and internet highlight dodgy practices(fraud) but nobody ever gets taken to court. If I rob your house the police catch me and then I give back what I stole from you I still get sent to jail. If the financial services business steal your money and give it back, nobody goes to jail.

    Until you can point to solid evidence that such fraudulent activity was "common practice", any such remarks are simply hearsay-which is probably why no one has been convicted of this fraud.

    I had concrete evidence as my Barclaycard PPI was rejected on the basis I had filled in the form, but when I asked to see it, the name & address was not in my handwriting and they had spelt the street name wrong, crossed it out and put the correct one in.. The street name they initially used sounded very similar to the actual name but was a different word. This proved they had filled it in after mishearing the name from me..
    When I challenged I got the rejection overturned instantly!

    There is nothing intrinsically wrong with bank staff filling in the form on behalf of the customer, as long as the signature to the agreement is applied afterwards.

    There is nothing in your account that "proves" the document was altered after you signed it.

  • If the banks are going to write to customers I would miss any post, having moved house. Would it be worth me writing to them to enquire if they are looking at my claim and advising them of my new address or should I just wait. I don't have access to post from my former address. Thanks.
  • Halifax have recently been in touch with me regarding my claim bit i am reluctant to reply incase they want the money back what they have already paid me. Soes anyone know if they can do this???? .....thanks in advance for any help :)

    They will not be asking for you to return any money. They are only contacting people who were either incorrectly rejected or where the redress paid may not have been enough.

    If they paid you too much they wouldnt need to speak to you. You would just get a letter through asking you to pay it back. Not speaking to them would not avoid the issue. However, it wont be that.
