As the title says this will be my first job in about 2 years, ill be on around £10500 working 35 hours a week.
Im just wondering how do i go about claiming WTC if i am enititled too it?
I start next week so at what point can i apply if i can?
Looked online but it says about last years earnings to which i dont have any!
Advice much appriciated.

Firstly thanks for taking the time to reply.
I'm 27 no children I have a girlfriend but don't live with her as I live at home with parents.
I should have said about the hourly rate as it's in a school the wage gets split up as then I get paid for the holidays
Thanks once again0 -

this is the important part. There is no change to tax credit if your income is less than £5k higher than the year befores, but as yours will be more than £5k higher they will need to readjust the payment to avoid you having a large overpayment to pay back at the end of the year0 -
I'm confused

I get the 5k higher part but as i haven't ever claimed before, how does it work, at what point do i apply?
How will i know if I'm getting over paid?
At what point do i need to get in contact to save a big pay back bill?
Cheers for help once again!0 -
When you make the initial claim they will automatically base the award on last years income and issue you an award based on that number
If your income this tax year is the same or £5k more than that figure then the award they issued will not change and you will be receiving the correct amount
If your income is £5k higher than the number on the award letter then you will be getting paid too much so they will reassess the payments based on this new income level, less £5k
If you notify them as soon as you receive your award and get a new award letter, as long as you end up earning the number you advise them of or less, you will not have an overpayment0 -
Were you claiming JSA? If so, you will have had an income last year? So your claim will be based on that figure initially.
Have you checked www.turn2us.org.uk to see if you would get anything based on your new income? If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
