Hi,

I dont know if this will help anyone but I have just been told that there is a new driving school in the Portsmouth area offering 5 x 1 hour lessons for £25. To book this offer you need to call their booking line on 0800 85 41 40 and ask to book the offer which was advertised in the Evening News. Once you have paid them the £25 they will send you 5 vouchers which you need to present to the instructor for each 1 hour lesson. You need to call the booking line in July but the vouchers are valid for 12 months.

Cheers

That must be one of the cheapest ways to advertise a CHEAP driving school ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

£5 per hour wouldn't even pay wages let alone fuel, I cant see you would get much of a lesson for a fiver, sat at the side of the road for an hour I expect.

Never heard of such a thing as a loss leader oldbuffer?

Its obvious that the driving school is hoping that the pupils it attracts with the cheap offer tell there mates who, unless they book in July, will pay the normal price. Seems perfectly feasable to me and besides that I booked them up for my neice who called me the other day to say what a good experience she had with her first lesson.

    Cheers,

    Hi Poodge

I'd be interested to know how these "cheap" lessons go too. I'm married to a driving instructor who charges at the higher end of the scale but then he is a grade 6 (highest grade) and has 23 years experience including learners, bus drivers, company car drivers and training people to be instructors. Please be careful not to be taken for a ride.

Hi, I think the £25 deal was only a very limited period of time to break into a new area. Looks like after your 5 lessons they revert to £19 per hour which is standard in my area. Thanks
  • This is a scam and an insult to professional Driving Instructors
Sounds good but you will pay in the long run,my experience in this field has shown that you will end up with far more lessons than you need and
probably end up paying over £20 per hour (who needs to be taught how to open a car door and shut it ) and is usually a 40/50 minute lesson.

Loads of instructors do there first 5 hours for £25 hook them then charge a greater amount for further lessons. Plus why we allowing a blatant spam post to be resurrected
