It is odd, that drivers who daily crash through bumps and cravasses and rumble over mislaid strips of tarmac, "fixes", know that their roadways nowadays are made of fragile marzipan, but think that the pavements are somehow superior and able to protect the substrata infrastructure from their crap parking?0
-
Yet people still think this is acceptable, no other cars around yet decides to block half the pavement
What i find funny is that the person taking the photo appears to be parked exactly the same.
Why is the person taking the photo also parked half on the pavement?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Must be a Southern thing - where i live your more likely to get angry neighbours and towed if you don't park on the pavement.:money:0

But not all pavements are the same. In many areas the pavements are plenty wide enough to have two (and even four wheels on the pavement) and still give room for wheelchairs, pushchairs etc to get by with no difficulty. And the authorities, including the police, take a sensible and pragmatic approach to pavement parking as they realise the alternative is dangerously narrowed roads.
Move out of Greater London for a start. All this talk at present about an independent Scotland, it seems like London is become detached from the rest of the UK when it comes to traffic laws; pavement parking, congestion charging, low emission zones, banning perfectly legal vehicles from the roads because of their age or fuel type.0 -
I would suggest, as previous post, go to pepipoo.com. You've paid so there is no cost to appeal and they will help you. Reading the OP I understand that they parked with a part of a wheel, just on the low kerb, seems de minimus to me. I don't know many people that have not done this at some time, in fact I would suggest we all have done so.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Croydon have a reputation for this sort of thing. Like many other councils, they use fines to raise revenue. Some years ago my then son-in-law was done for parking illegally in Croydon when the car was many miles away in Aldershot. It took a lot of time, stress, and persistence to get the fine overturned.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0

Round here "the Council" have a Little Man on a Moped With a Camera who's job it is to go round looking for contraventions to raise cash.
One of his favourites is "parking not in accordance with regulations: vehicle not parked wholly within bay". You get this if a tyre so much as touches a white line, or if you are overhanging the space. (supported by a photograph showing the contravention) :eek:I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

It bugs the hell out of me when people park with wheels on the pavement, there are people in wheel chairs and with push chairs that need to get through.
Not sure about the OP's position but in the area i stay there's a lot of old residential areas that people can't park anywhere near their home without parking on the pavement because the streets are so narrow. The police always do it when they are called out and the council do it as well when doing repairs to buildings. All your base are belong to us.0 -

Good. People who aren't capable of parking their car in a bay properly deserve it.0
