Barclaycard Changes (Previously Egg)

Hi all
Wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of information about the recent Barclaycard changes
I have two accounts:
Baclaycard Platinum Visa that I've had forever!
And Barclaycard Visa (previously Egg card)
I've noticed that the Barclaycard Visa (former Egg card) has changed display picture to show it as a Barclaycard Platinum Visa as well. I do recall seeing something about this, but have since forgotten.
The former Egg card used to offer existing customer balance transfer offers, but I've cleared the balance now and trying to decide if it is worth keeping at all - it seems silly to have two Barclaycard Platinum Visa cards if that's what it is now. And I assume I wouldn't be able to transfer balances between them anyway,
Thanks

I'm in the same boat as you. I read a lot about the separate old Egg Money 1% cashback card becoming Barclays World and then Barclays Cashback.
However, like you I have the Egg card (not the cashback one) which I had for balance transfers and got a letter about it 2 months ago notifying the change to Barclay platinum. I haven't seen anything on the web about because there isn't much uproar since a lot of people closed the card when Barclays took over anyway as the terms weren't that good (as opposed to the cashback card)
I also already have a Barclays Platinum so am annoyed that both cards are the same (whereas before having a green barclaycard helped to differentiate them in my Wallet). However instead of closing it I always threaten to close it and get 0% purchases for 12 months which I use to stooze. There are longer introductory purchase offers out there but this way I get to stooze without a credit search.0 -
If you contact BarclayCard, they may be willing to transfer that card to a different product, or merging your two credit limits.Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.

Great idea! I didn't know you could change products that aren't open to new customers. I called just now and upgraded to the Barclaycard Cashback. My 12 month purchase offer got cut but I only had 6 months left and didn't really use it so not much stoozing money to be made.
It was a choice of the cashback or the freedom rewards but I can't be bothered with reward schemes and also I like the look of the black cards0 -
Interesting, I'll call now...0

So I called, but got someone who had no idea what I was on about. It's so frustrating when they tell you stuff you know not to be true.
I explained that my product has changed. That it used to be Egg card, then changed to Barclaycard Visa, then recently to Barclaycard Platinum Visa. I also said that I think they wrote to me a couple of months ago about it. The icon/logo next to my account even looks different online.
Anyway, he said there had been no changes to my product since 2011 and started explaining the difference between Visa, Maestro and Mastercard. That's when I gave up.

My old egg card had just changed to a Barclays Platinum. I was in the same situation so i phoned up customer service yesterday and they have changed the account to a Barclays Freedom Reward card. Should get the card some time next week. All the terms have stayed the same, APR, credit limit deals ect. Just now i will be collecting points. I do pay my card in full every month by direct debit so that mite be why they had no quarms in changing me over.0
