I have been trying to ring up Virgin regularly to see when combi reward flights would be available however as of yet they keep saying there is nothing available.
Anyone have any idea about how these work? Looking for specific flights March next year going to Vegas

I don't know about the particular type of reward flights you are asking about but reward flights LGW->LAS seem quite limited in terms of availability full stop, particularly in PE...maybe that's why you are struggling? Have you tried looking for normal reward flights and seeing if they are available on the dates you are looking at?Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0

Are combi reward flights part pay cash and miles?
The prices on the website have never looked that exciting to me.
West Coast USA is always difficult for reward availability with Virgin and BA.
"Specific dates" is never a good criteria when looking at reward availability.0 -
it does look like they are part cash/part miles but not the normal Miles+Money fares...you can only book them by calling (which would put me off from the start because I like to do my own research in my own time online).

Hi All,
Thanks for replies. On site you can use 2000 miles towards fare + money reduces flight about £40
When you call up if you can get a combi they will allow either half requirement 22,500 or sometimes full 45,000 towards the flight thereby reducing fare to nearly half price or more0 -

With combi fares you use miles for one leg and pay cash for the other, so there still needs to be reward availability, but only for one of the legs.
I have always found the flying club helpline operators to be very helpful when I've called, they can often offer alternatives which are not so simple to find via the website

Yep I agree, the chap i spoke to yesterday was really helpful, just said all the combi fares were not available for that particular flight however I believe it is subject to change. Just wanted to know if anyone know how it worked or if it was a case of ringing up regularly to see if it is available0 -

That would be a bargain...guess you know that the taxes and surcharges would apply.0
