Basic bank Account

I'm trying to get a basic bank account. I have had financial problems in the past, I do have CCJ's. I want a basic account as with my nationwide cashbuilder account I can't transfer money set up standing order or Direct debits. I am in full time employmentand earn over £1000 per month but I can't get one and it's so frustrating. Can anyone suggest anything or one of these no credit checkaccounts but with the lowest monthly fees. I don't want a overdraft, just a debit card.
Thanks

  • All banks will credit score you for even basic accounts - who have you tried?
If you fail the credit score they will offer a basic account as a default as long as you are not bankrupt or have been involved in any fraudulent activity.
Most will prefer you to apply online.

Have you asked Nationwide about their basic Flex account? They might be flexible to an existing customer.

    If you have further trouble:
    • You could get a pre-paid card or Yorkshire & Clydesdale bank / State bank of India offer a debit card on some of their savings accounts.
    • Yorkshire and Coventry Building Societies both offer savings accounts with ATM and Direct Debit capabilities.
    • Many instant access savings accounts with the major banks will offer an ATM card and funds transfer capabilities
The discontinued CashBuilder is just a naff account for interest and functionality.
