Doesn't a magic eye only work on Sky box?

'MAGIC EYE' REMOTE CONTROL EXTENDERIt operates between the RF2 output on a satellite receiver (from which it receives the 9Vdc it needs to power it) and an additional TV.

    Not sure.

The problem is the Humax 1010s does not have any rf outputs so that's why we have had to buy a modulator to do that job so i would have thought the vison link (what ours is called) would have connected to the modulator and worked ok ?.

The RF2 output on the Sky box can output 9V DC to power these little TV Link boxes. You have to turn the power on to get them to work - I guess you're not providing yours with any power, hence the lack of remote control functionality.
You might be better with a wireless video sender, the Humax just isn't designed for (outdated) RF, but I've just had some bad experiences with really poor range with one.
I've just installed one of these on a Sky box, and have turned on the RF2 power, but I still can't use the remote control. The picture is also fuzzier on RF2 than RF1, power or not. It's a long RF lead - up 2 storeys into the loft and back down, but these systems work this way so I can't imagine it's due to the length of cable. Any ideas anyone on getting the remote to work or the fuzziness? Sorry for hijacking the thread...

That's the problem we do have power to the vision link because we have plugged in a 9v dc adapter and we are getting the picture on the second tv in the bedroom from the humax box downstairs but it's just not letting us turn the channels over up stairs when we are in the bedroom.

If the Vison Link was used previously with a Sky box on RF2, RF2 not only supplied the 9V supply but also passed back the remote signal to the Sky box.

As the Humax does not have a built-in RF modulator the remote signal is going nowhere hence no remote channel change.

Check out Satcure (other sellers are available ) for non Sky remote extenders.
